In-Ovation® braces

These are one of the newest additions to the ever-changing orthodontic device landscape. They produce faster results than traditional braces.

Please call us at (202) 783-3368 to schedule an appointment with your orthodontist at Dr. James E. Johnson DDS, & Associates P.C to see if the use of In-Ovation braces is an acceptable choice for your dental restorative needs.

What are In-Ovation® braces?

In-Ovation braces
If you have paid attention to someone wearing traditional metal braces, you might have seen that they have the small rubber bands that hold the wire in place. These rubber bands are called ligatures. They are used to “tie” or ligate the brackets to the archwire.

In-Ovation braces are also known as "speed braces". These are a brand of self-ligating braces. Instead of using ligatures or metal ties, the In-Ovation brackets have a trap door that holds the archwire in place.

What are the advantages of using In-Ovation® braces?
  • Less chair time at your dental office (translated to less pain) for archwire changes. The chair time can be reduced by as much as 1/3 for every visit to change the wires.
  • Fewer office visits: Approximately 40 percent fewer appointments for the In-Ovation braces compared to other types of braces.
  • Shorter overall treatment time: Approximately four months less compared to traditional treatment when doing an equivalent case.
Types of In-Ovation® braces:
In-Ovation braces

There are generally three types of In-Ovation® braces available in the market today. All of them use a variation of the basic In-Ovation self-ligating braces.

In-Ovation® - R

The brackets are made of metal. Its innovative clip technology easily opens and closes, closing with a nudge of a thumb with an audible "click” to assure correct engagement. An interactive Coballoy spring clip provides better torque expression while a special design ensures easy opening and closing.

In-Ovation® - C

In-Ovation® - C is the first ceramic bracket that allows self-ligation. Doctors can choose the exact level of control that is required for each phase of treatment. Greater control means better, faster finishing.

In-Ovation - C’s exceptionally high translucency and rhodium-coated clip provide great aesthetics.

In-Ovation® - L (Lingual Braces)

These lingual braces are placed behind your teeth. The brackets are made of metal; but since they are behind your teeth, they are virtually invisible to others.

Like any other lingual braces, In-Ovation® - L lingual braces also require getting used to.

Also, unlike other braces that affect your lips and cheeks, the lingual braces affect your tongue. Since their presence affects your tongue movement, they will impair your speech during the first several days. Generally, the initial discomfort will pass after the first 2 weeks.

How much will the In-Ovation braces cost?

Any of the above mentioned brackets have their own advantages and disadvantages, depending on the individual circumstances. We can advise you if any of the above solutions is ideal for you, only after a personal examination.

Please give us a call at (202) 783-3368 to schedule an appointment with your orthodontist at Dr. James E. Johnson DDS, & Associates P.C so that we could give you an accurate estimate of the cost and other details in your particular case.
